A victory among the statues to earn a rematch. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia lit up the evening at the Pietrangeli court, defeating brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus 6-2, 6-1 in 56 minutes and securing their spot in the round of 16 at the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel. They will play tomorrow, not before 8 p.m., on Centre Court against José Diestro and Juanlu Esbri (seeded 16), who reached the semifinals at the P2 in Asuncion after upsetting Coello and Tapia in the quarterfinals.

After a balanced start, the key break in the first set came in the fourth game (4-2). At the start of the second set, the crowd moved en masse to the second court inside the Pietrangeli to enjoy the plays of the 2023 Major champions, who have already won four titles this season (Riyadh, Doha, Brussels, Buenos Aires) after their 14 wins last year. Fans also cheered for the Deus brothers, who in Riyadh were supported courtside by Cristiano Ronaldo. After the match, the railing was full of kids eager for selfies, autographs, and even some Argentine jerseys to be signed—or to catch a towel.

In the first set of the Coello-Tapia match, spectators were divided between Pietrangeli 1 and Pietrangeli 2, because on the other court there was an Italian—Marco Cassetta—who, together with José Luis Gonzalez, was putting up a strong fight against Buenos Aires finalists Paquito Navarro and Lucas Bergamini. Eventually, the No. 6 seeds prevailed (7-5 6-3) in 74 minutes, but all the applause went to the player from Turin, who, after winning five CUPRA FIP Tour titles in 2025 alone, secured his first Major win yesterday and leaves the Foro Italico full of confidence.

Martin Di Nenno and Juan Tello (7) stayed on court three minutes longer (77 minutes), defeating Pablo Lijo and Juan Cruz Belluati. On the Centrale, Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto (4) had a scare, being pushed to three sets by Teo Zapata and José Jimenez. In the end, Yanguas and Nieto prevailed 6-2 3-6 6-3 in 96 minutes, but they’ll need to raise their level in tomorrow's Round of 16 clash against Alex Chozas and Sanyo Gutierrez.
