A Buenos Aires rematch already in the quarters. The world No.1s could meet Paquito Navarro and Lucas Bergamini—whom they defeated with a double 6-2 in the Buenos Aires final—already in the quarterfinals at the Foro Italico on Friday. Juan Lebron, who was present at the draw ceremony in Rome, is aiming to repeat his 2022 title won with Ale Galan. This time, “El Lobo” will pair with Franco Stupaczuk and face either Ayats/Garcia Rodrigo or Ortega/Del Castillo in their debut match, with a potential semifinal clash against Galan and Chingotto. The defending champions will start against two qualifiers or Valdes/Collado and could face the dangerous Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger in the quarterfinals.
Two years ago, it was Coello and Tapia who triumphed in Rome. The current No.1s, and winners of this year’s first Major in Doha, will debut against either Leygue/Moya or Portuguese brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus, with a potential semifinal clash against Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas. The latter are scheduled to face either Garcia/Rico or Zapata/Jimenez in the second round, after receiving a bye in the first (as did all 16 seeds).
Projected Quarterfinals:
Coello/Tapia (1) vs Bergamini/Navarro (6)
Tello/Di Nenno (7) vs Nieto/Yanguas (4)
Lebron/Stupaczuk (3) vs Gonzalez/Sanz (5)
Cardona/Augsburger (8) vs Chingotto/Galan (2)
