Padel is now a global phenomenon with Italy among the countries with the highest growth rate. If there were still any doubts about this, the World Padel Report 2024 – presented by the FIP President, Luigi Carraro, during the 'general states' of Asuncion in Paraguay – has definitively dispelled them, highlighting the exceptional numbers of this fascinating and spectacular sport.
At an amateur level, padel is currently played in 130 countries and has over 30 million enthusiasts who play at least once a week. Of these, 40%, one of the highest rates in all sports, are women. The main user base is in Europe, which accounts for 59% of total players, followed by South America with 23%, then Central and North America at 7%, and Asia at 6.4%. Worldwide, there are more than 63,000 courts (one for every 400 enthusiasts). There are over 19.800 clubs or equipped facilities (+48% compared to 2022), of which 5.820 are affiliated with Federations.
Despite the initial delay in the spread of padel Italy, ready to host the 2024 edition of the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel at the Foro Italico in Rome, has quickly reached impressive numbers, confirming itself as one of the nations where this sport is most loved: there are nearly 1,5 million players, 3.408 specialized facilities, and 9.053 courts (a figure that sees the country second only to Spain).
