The Lobo’s roar: Lebron enchants Rome with Galan

The score (6-4 6-3, one hour and 4 minutes) does not give too much credit to the good performance by Gutierrez and Sanz, who had the chance to catch up in the last game, before suffering defeat at the conclusion of a video review decision, where players were left hanging for roughly 5 minutes

It was no walk in the park for Ale Galan and Juan Lebron. But they did not lose the typical serenity that pervades them, come rain or shine. Like when, at the end of a long rally, Galan ended up on the wrong side of the cage while a shot that was intended to be a 'por tres' (one that's supposed to go out the side) remained in the court, making 'Lobo' laugh.

It’s the little things, and at some moments in the match the not-so-little ones as well: Gutierrez/Sanz proved to be up to their quarterfinal task, putting the world no. 1 pair to the test. The score (6-4 6-3, one hour and 4 minutes) does not give too much credit to the good performance by the underdogs, who had the chance to catch up in the last  game, before suffering defeat at the conclusion of a video review decision, where players were left hanging for roughly 5 minutes

A shot from outside by Lebron touched the court by a matter of millimetres, and so the match was snapped up by the favourites in the end. Lebron/Galan are expected to take revenge here in Rome, after losing the Doha final to Navarro and Di Nenno. First, though, there is a semifinal which will be anything but easy.

Ale Galan points out the heat issue, the end of May already feeling like the middle of summer here. It is very hot these days and especially in the afternoon it is difficult to play in the sun. But it is true that the conditions are the same for everyone, so we try to adjust as best we can. The court is fast and it is tough to break, so you must always keep your focus, because a handful of points might change a match. Our goal is to save the best form for the last few days".

Juan Lebron, on the other hand, praises the tournament and the people who filled the stands. “All the players I've talked to this week are thrilled to be able to play an event like this. Being in Rome is a privilege for us, because we have the opportunity to perform in an amazing place and in front of so many spectators: this is becoming a wonderful spot for Padel, which will surely continue to grow. The city? There’s little time to sightsee, because we focus on matches and practice, but we do take advantage whenever we can for a few brief outings".
