The temperature in Rome is nearing 40 degrees, but the heat of the BNL Italy Major will be even hotter. Because on the courts of the Foro Italico, it's the big day of the quarterfinals, starting again at 9 AM with the first two matches on Centrale, then a break (due to the heat), and resuming at 6 PM, between Centrale and Pietrangeli. Kicking off the day are the first two women's quarterfinals: the number 2 seeds Triay/Fernandez will try to extend their winning streak to 12 matches against Guinart/Martinez, followed by a duel of experience versus emerging talent: on one side of the net Sainz/Llaguno, on the other Sharifova/Martinez.

The first match of the evening session at 6 PM is also a women's match: the number 1 seeds Sanchez/Josemaria face the surprises Mesa/Ruiz Soto, the only non-seeded pair still in the running. Then, two (super) men's duels: reigning champions Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia – who have not thrilled so far – will need to raise their level to beat Yanguas/Garrido, while Federico Chingotto and Ale Galan (resting on Thursday due to the withdrawal of Bautista/Guerrero) face a tough test against Arroyo/Alonso, fresh from an impressive win against former number 1 Gutierrez/Sanchez.

Three matches from 6 PM also on Pietrangeli, with the most intriguing being the first: Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebron (showing improvement after the debut) against Alex Ruiz and Momo Gonzalez. Following this, the last women's quarterfinal between Castello/Jensen and Brea/Gallardo, then another match promising to heat up the Roman evening: Lucas Campagnolo and Javi Leal, who defeated Belasteguin in his last appearance in Rome, attempt another feat against the Superpibes, Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno. Choosing between Centrale and Pietrangeli will be harder than ever.
