BNL Italy Major Premier Padel, sustainability plan

The growth of a sporting event also depends on the enhancement of services and a strong focus on environmental and social sustainability. In this context, the 2025 edition of the BNL Italy Majro Premier Padel will be supported by a plan of initiatives aimed at promoting responsible behavior and enhancing the experience for spectators, partners, and the community.

ENVIRONMENTAL FOCUS

Green & Relax areas
Dedicated "green & relax areas" have been set up within the venue - spaces designed to offer spectators a shaded break, with seating surrounded by plants and flowers.

Inclusive and sustainable food offering
Expanded Food & Beverage selection including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Gluten-free Peroni beer is also available.

Digitalization and paper reduction
All tickets are fully digital. The match schedule is available on the official Tournament website.

Low-impact packaging and materials

  • Use of compostable or recyclable packaging at food & beverage areas.
  • Valmora provides water bottles made entirely from 100% recycled plastic.
  • Compostable cups for serving Peroni beer.
  • In the Fan Village, Partners and Operators are encouraged to use sustainable materials, distribute low-impact promotional items, and organize sustainability-driven activities.

Waste management and recycling

  • 10 dedicated units for the collection and recycling of cigarette butts have been installed throughout the venue.
1 eco-compactor installed to reduce PET waste volume and encourage proper public disposal.

Fighting food waste
Food & beverage operators donate surplus food to the charity organization Equoevento, making a tangible contribution to the fight against food waste and supporting those in need.

Sustainable mobility

  • Approximately 50% of the official BMW and Mini fleet used for player transportation consists of electrified vehicles - a choice that reflects the event’s ongoing commitment to more sustainable mobility, even behind the scenes.
All on-site transportation is carried out exclusively using electric vehicles. Staff members use electric golf carts to facilitate movement between the various areas of the Foro Italico.

SOCIAL FOCUS

Education and training

During the tournament, the Istituto Superiore di Formazione of FITP promotes a comprehensive program of educational and promotional activities, including technical symposia, live demonstrations, and the involvement of tennis schools and students, who will enjoy facilitated access to the event. Among the planned initiatives is the activation of the Young Village, set up across three courts until June 15, along with technical gatherings for the Under 8 and Under 10 categories. On Saturday, June 14, the “Internazionali di Minipadel” tournament will also take place.

Accessibility and inclusion

  • Free tickets (subject to availability) for spectators with disabilities. A dedicated section on the official website provides all necessary information about accessibility, services, and booking procedures.
  • The event is designed to be fully accessible to all visitors, regardless of physical ability, thanks to the presence of access ramps, reserved seating for people with disabilities and clear signage to direct them to dedicated services. Additionally, a dedicated assistance service with qualified staff is provided to welcome and support spectators with disabilities throughout the site.
  • On the qualifying days, June 8th and 9th, at Foro Italico, the BNL Italy Major Wheelchair Padel took place: a national men’s tournament featuring 9 pairs. The initiative represented an important opportunity to raise visibility for wheelchair padel, promoting inclusion and equal opportunities in sport. As part of the event, the wheelchair sector instructors from FITP conducted a 30-minute training session during the 3rd International Padel Symposium. The presentation highlighted not only the athletes’ technical skills and preparation but also served as an occasion to raise awareness.
